Overview
Write & Learn Korean ("the Platform", "we", "us") is a Korean language learning platform. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
What we collect
We collect different data depending on how you use the Platform:
If you use the Platform without an account
- Local storage data: Your learning progress, preferences, and practice history are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and we cannot access it.
- Analytics data: Anonymous usage statistics such as page views, session duration, and general geographic region. This data cannot identify you personally.
If you create an account
- Account information: Email address and authentication tokens, managed securely through Supabase (our authentication provider).
- Profile data: Your display name, account role, and preferences.
- Progress data: Daily quiz results, Korean level progress, and practice records synced to our database so they persist across devices.
- Community content: If you use community features, any content you choose to share publicly (such as handwriting photos or learning stories) will be stored and visible to other users.
Third-party services
Supabase (Authentication & Database)
We use Supabase to handle user authentication and store account data. Supabase processes your email address and authentication tokens. Their privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
Google AdSense (Advertising)
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing history.

Vercel (Hosting)
The Platform is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect server logs including IP addresses for security and performance monitoring. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Cookies
We use the following types of cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required for authentication and core functionality. These cannot be disabled.
- Advertising cookies: Set by Google AdSense to serve relevant ads. You can manage these through your browser settings or Google's Ad Settings.
How we use your data
- To provide and maintain the learning platform
- To authenticate your account and sync progress across devices
- To improve the Platform based on anonymous usage patterns
- To display advertisements through Google AdSense
We never sell your personal data. We do not share your email address or learning data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Data retention
localStorage data is retained on your device until you clear your browser data. Account data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export your learning progress data
- Opt out of personalised advertising

Children's privacy
The Platform is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
